Provider Opportunities
HTPN offers providers the opportunity to become involved with special services delivered to HTPN clients.
Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
HTPN has developed a leading edge FCE that provides a versatile tool to assess injured workers:
- Symptoms
- Physical demand category
- Ability to perform their job function(s)
Our FCE provides the documentation necessary for the physician and employer to determine the employee's work capability and has been demonstrated highly defensible in legal situations. The HTPN FCE takes approximately two to four hours plus report writing, depending on the injured worker's physical capabilities.
For qualified physical and occupational therapists, we provide FCE training and software for documentation and report generation. The terms are as follows:
- Provider must execute a licensing agreement.
- The HTPN FCE software can only be used for HTPN referrals.
- Training costs $450, and the provider will receive CEs.
- HTPN will supply a list of equipment needed upon request.
- Training generally takes 2 to 7 hours depending on the experience of the therapist.
- Training is either performed in small groups in person or via web conferencing and telephone conference call.
All referrals for FCEs for licensed providers are directly made by the HTPN call center based on the most appropriate location. Reports are provided back to HTPN. Payment for services rendered is made by HTPN following the receipt of a bill.

Post-Offer Employment Screen (POES)
A POES is performed after a job offer has been made to a prospective employee. The goal is to determine if a job candidate is functionally capable of performing the job tasks, or has an undisclosed injury that would inhibit job performance. HTPN works with the hiring organization to analyze the job duties and will specify the physical functions to be tested. The therapist performing the POES will test the patient and document functioning in each of the different job requirements provided by HTPN. The data will be returned to HTPN, and a report will be generated for the employer.
The following are the terms of performing an HTPN POES:
- The therapist must be a licensed physical therapist.
- HTPN provides a training program of approximately one to two hours duration.
- The therapist will be provided with an HTPN POES manual.
- HTPN POES can only be performed for HTPN referrals.
- Equipment is generally standard physical therapy equipment.
All referrals for a POES are directly made by the HTPN call center based on the most appropriate location. Payment for services rendered is made by HTPN following the receipt of a bill.

On-Site Therapy
HTPN offers programs to deliver therapy services on-site at an appropriate employer location. The services include treatment and usually an evaluation of the worksite and selected job descriptions. Optionally, we offer Prevention Programs such as our Stretch Program, The Back School and The Work Station Exercise Program.
This program is provided only when the volume of therapy patients appears appropriate to warrant a therapist on-site. We utilize only licensed physical therapists. Training in managing workplace injuries is provided by HTPN depending on the extent of the therapist's experience in work injury management.
